Please note that these features and benefits are subject to change. It's always a good idea to check the official website for the most up-to-date information. Current.com is not a bank but a financial technology platform that offers banking services through Choice Financial Group and Cross River Bank, which are both members of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). That means money you put into a Current account is FDIC insured. Current.com was the first fintech in the country to receive and immediately credit account holders with the second round of government stimulus payment money. Current’s founder Stuart Sopp underscored the importance of getting that money out to desperate Americans because “nearly two thirds of the stimulus funds were spent within five days in April.”
Payment Method
Current.com offers several methods for making payments:
- Current Card: This can be used to pay bills as a standard debit transaction. If the funds aren't available, the transaction will be declined.
- Account and Routing Information: This can be used to pay bills online via ACH transfer if ACH payments are accepted. The funds have to be available in the spending balance at the time payment is submitted or it will fail when the company that you're trying to pay attempts to withdraw it.
- Current Pay: This is a peer-to-peer platform that enables members to send or request money from others on Current immediately. Transfers are drawn from the primary balance. If the balance on Current is not enough to cover a Pay transaction, one of the external funding sources can be chosen to make a deposit from. Once that deposit settles, the payment will be completed.
Remember, third-party fees may apply when using these payment methods. Always ensure to review the terms and conditions before making any transactions. Feel free to ask more questions.
